He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Scharf and Ida Scharf (Maile); his wife Doris Scharf; his great grandchild Ensley Ann Swenson-Stahl; and his siblings, Anton "Tony" Scharf, Elmer Scharf and LaVerna Schuler.
He is survived by: his children, Doreen Hanson (Roger) of Brandon, SD, Butch Scharf (Kathy) of Watertown, SD, Donald Scharf of Milbank, SD, Lisa Swenson (Mark) of Sioux Falls, SD and Patrick Scharf (Ying "Katherine" Li) of Austin, TX; his grandchildren, Matthew Hanson (Danica), Hope Werlinger (Brian), Alysia Juhl (Matt), Genna Swenson, Aaron Swenson, Bailey Swenson and Jessica Li; his great grandchildren, Logan Vogel, Cole Hanson, Jace Hanson, Brody Hanson, Hayden Werlinger, Addilyn Mae Werlinger, Dominic Juhl, Morgan Swenson, Aiden Juhl, Danika Juhl, Ashlynn Swenson, Bradon Tucker, Colin Christensen, Devin Christensen and Jaxyn Perratt; and his sister Alice Hooth of Milbank, SD. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
