He was predeceased by: his parents, Marinus Laar and Margaret Van Laar (Lengkeek); his son Dustin Van Laar; and his siblings, Marvin Van Laar, Dean Van Laar, Wilma Rowland, Arlene Brasel and Mary Hoogland.
He is survived by: his wife Lorraine "Lori" Van Laar of Sioux Falls, SD; his children, Dwayne Lukens (Maureen), Geraldine Van Laar and Beverly Vreeland (Scott); his stepchildren, LeAnn "Beth" Tebben, Cheryl DeGroot (Bruce), David Baartman (Connie) and Shelly Smedsrud; and his sisters, Betty VanderZee (Curtis) and Darlene Van. He is also survived by two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and Lori's grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
