He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Hurst and Vergie Hurst (Lightner); his wife Judith Baird; his brother Charles; his sister-in-law Mary Hurst; his sisters, Marjorie (Donald Frank), Helen Gascoigne and Mary Mattinen; and his siblings-in-law, Daelyn Mason, Harry Betten and Donald Brandenburg.
He is survived by: his children, Janelle Hurst of Sioux Falls, William Hurst of Sioux Falls, Jeffrey Hurst (Sandi) of Sioux Falls and Michelle Hoekman (Pete Nelson) of Texarkana, AR; his grandchildren, Porsha Gray (Justin), Dakota Hurst (Catherine), Emma Kern (Timothy) and Madilyn Hurst (Jason Zacharias); his sister Dorothy Brandenburg of Sioux Falls; and his brother-in-law Clifford "Gene" Gascoigne of De Smet, SD. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
