He was predeceased by: his parents, John Surksum and Gertrude Van Surksum (Rempt); his wife Ann Van Surksum; his son Lloyd Van Surksum; his great grandchild Peyton Marie; and his siblings, Bernard Van Surksum (Corine), Grace Van Veldhuizen (Pete), Johanna Teunissen (Case), Bill Van Surksum and Richard Van Surksum.
He is survived by: his former wife Cora Gorter; his children, Donna Kempema (Marv) of Doon and Darlo Van Surksum of Doon; and his brother John Van Surksum (Nettie) of Doon. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
