She was predeceased by: her parents, George Groos and Tena Groos (Thompson); her husband Edward; and her siblings, Lyle Groos, Richard Groos and Georgia Hamm.

She is survived by: her children, Roberta Patrick of Tea, SD, Kevin Widman (Cyndee), David Widman (Donna) and Sioux Falls; her grandchildren, Lisa Berry (Alex), Joshua Widman, Todd Widman (Krysta), Nicholas Widman and Christopher Widman; and her great grandchildren, Ashley Gaspar and Rylan Berry. She is also survived by mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

In lieu of flowers Elaine's family requests that memorials be directed to the Sanford Hospice Program.
