He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Hughes and Alpha Hughes (Stockstad); his brothers, Milton and Derald; his brother-in-law Harvey Huber; and his niece Sandy Schanzenbach.
He is survived by: his wife Venoye Bieber (Bieber); his children, Renee White (Tom), Connie Lewis (Dennis), Kent (Miriam Svaren), Kieth (Jeanette McCormick) and Carol Smith (Steve); his grandchildren, Reagan Clemensen (Meghan), Robyn Green (Rob), Sara Rasmussen (Keith), Chelsea Kuipers (Reggie), Daniel Hughes (Danielle), David Hughes (Mallory), Kyle Hughes, Heidi Watje (Mark), Kayla Harms (Logan), Alex Hughes (Sophie), Sam Smith (McKinsey), Marah Van Diest (Shane), Luke Smith (Alexis), Erin, AnneMarie and Isaac Smith; and his sisters, LaVere Huber of Aberdeen, SD and Karen Mullins (Michael) of Madison, WI..
