He was predeceased by: his parents, John Rypkema and Grace Rypkema (Geerdes); and his wife Mavis Kix. He is survived by: his children, Debra Meyer (Dave) of Sioux Falls, SD, Diane Rypkema (Greg Ramynke) of Sioux Falls, SD and David Rypkema of Sioux Falls, SD; his grandson Travis Entenman (Hannah) of Sioux Falls, SD; and his siblings, Edward Rypkema (Alice) of Lincoln, NE, Joan Luitjens (Bob) and Norman Rypkema (Lori). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be given to the Union Gospel Mission.
