He is survived by: his spouse Vonnie Moore; his son Chad Shields (Kari); his grandchildren, Gavin, William, Grace, Oliver and Lily of Sioux Falls; his son Troy Shields; his grandchildren, Johan, Espen, Noah and Liam; his daughter Jodi Shields of Virginia, MN; his stepsons, Chris Moore (Cathy) of Madison and Jon Moore (Robyn); his children, Spencer and Shoshana of Denver; his stepson Charlie Moore (Stephanie); and his children, Lydia and Rudy of Sioux Falls.

Memorials may be given to Don Shields Living Legacy, a scholarship for a Riggs High Graduate, or to Sunnycrest Church.
