He was predeceased by: his son-in-law Dean "Dino" Vedin; his brother Darwin; and his parents-in-law, Homer and Mildred Backlund. He is survived by: his wife Judy; his children, Amy of Sioux City, IA, Gregg (J. J.) and Eric (Pam); his grandchildren, Gage Gohl, Carson Gohl, Drew Gohl, Ronnie Vedin, Cate Gohl and Lauryn Gohl; his sister-in-law Marilyn Gohl of Aberdeen, SD; his niece Charlene (Jim) Doerr; and his brothers-in-law, Dave Backlund (Deanell) and Dan Backlund (Tama) of Mitchell, SD.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to either the St John American Lutheran Church Endowment or the Augustana University Chapel.
