He was predeceased by: his parents, Anna Knapp and Henry Knapp. He is survived by: his wife Christine; his children, Michael (Catherine) and Jennifer Gonzales (Reynaldo); his grandchildren, Noah Knapp, Gabriel Gonzales, Rachel Knapp and Jacob Gonzales; and his brothers, Robert Knapp (Linda) and George Knapp (Barbara). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Church of St. Mary Immaculate Heart (7100 E 26th St, Sioux Falls, SD 57110). A prayer was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 at 5:30 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Church of St. Mary (7100 E 26th St, Sioux Falls, SD 57110).
