He was predeceased by: his parents, Calvin Mechels and Edna Mechels (Plucker). He is survived by: his wife Ellie Mechels (Tuffts); his stepsons, Steve Somerville (Meagan), Tom Somerville and Nolan Clark (Kevin); his sons, Kevin (Trina) and Rhys; his siblings, Cindy Schaefer (Doug) and Maurice (Artis); and his nieces and nephews, Chanesse Schaefer, Kasey Schaefer, Jenny Mechels-Holland, Shaun Schaefer, Jason Mechels and Jesse Mechels. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
