With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Catherine Irene Kerkaert of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 28, 2024 at the age of 81. As Catherine Irene departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Catherine Irene may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Catherine Irene leaves behind.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Jacobson and Frances Jacobson (Snell); her son Tony Kerkaert; her husband Bob Kerkaert; and her sister Joanne Kerkaert.
She is survived by: her children, Julie Fredendall (Jon) of Rogers, MN and Bill Kerkaert of Livingston, MT. She is also survived by 29 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, with two more great-grandchildren.
The family suggests that memorials may be made out to South Dakota Right to Life in Catherine's name.
