He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Martinek and Eleanor Martinek (Benson); his brother Craig; and his aunt Evelyn Kaplan. He is survived by: his children, Kelli Bartels (Shane), Kristin Hoole and Kyle Martinek-Braley (Bryan); and his grandchildren, Briley and Kennedy Bartels.

Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church Media Ministry; or the Avera McKennan Cancer Center in Sioux Falls.
