He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Muilenburg and Mary "Grace" Muilenburg (Waeckerle); his wife Jani Wallum; and his siblings, James and Loraine Hawkinson.

He is survived by: his daughter Amanda Muilenburg (Dakota Ellis) of Sioux Falls, SD; his grandchildren, Emma and Kloe; his siblings, Maurice Muilenburg (Beverly) of Boulder City, NV and Mary Ellen Rische (Rich) of Redfield, SD; and his siblings-in-law, Kim Wallum (Sandy) of Hill City, SD and Robin Wallum (Doug Flowers) of DeSmet, SD. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be directed to the ALS Association or Midwest Honor Flight.
