She was predeceased by: her father Donald Brockel. She is survived by: her mother Nina Brockel (Perman) of Selby; her husband Doyle Schley of Selby; her sons, Eric (Kourtenay) of Mobridge and Nick (Angela Grabau) of Rochester, MN; her grandsons, Rylee and Addison; her brother Dave Brockel of Hoven; her mother-in-law Esther Schley of Aberdeen; and her sisters-in-law, Ellen Renner (Adolph) of Aberdeen and Estelle Meyers (Vern) of Aberdeen.

In 2006 Deb was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's Disease.
