He was predeceased by: his son James Peter Schmidt (Jim). He is survived by: his wife Claire Lorraine Simpson (Lorry); his children, Robin Shank (Tim), Heather Peters (Julian) of Redondo Beach, California and Robert Foster-Schmidt (Christopher) of Minneapolis, Minnesota.; and his grandchildren, Jeremy Shank, Ian and Megan Peters. He is also survived by His extended family includes multi-generational nieces and nephews.
