He is survived by: his friend Dr. Matthew P. Owens; his wife Wendi Kooiman; his children, Kyle, Hannah and Olivia; his parents, Dr. Richard Owens and Verlee Owens of Sioux City; his sister Laurie Vinkavich-Cole; his brother-in-law Robert Cole of Hawaii; his brother Jonathan Owens of San Diego; his parents-in-law, Den and Kathy Kooiman; and his sisters-in-law, Deb and Kim. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, and cousins.
