With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Herman Jansen of Redfield, South Dakota, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 8, 2025 at the age of 98. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Herman Jansen to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Johannes Herman and Annetta Jansen (Scovall); his wife Joyce; his son Jerald; his siblings, Roland Jansen and Shirley Hudson; and his siblings-in-law, Bernadene Lewis (Lloyd), Donna Zens (Eugene), Kenny Thiesen, Oscar Woodfork, Lyle Hansen (Mildred) and Lester Hansen (Joan).
He is survived by: his children, Myra Van Baale (Jansen) of Newton, IA, Jene Jansen (Melissa) of Eddy, TX, Jack Jansen (Char) of Ashton, SD, Joel Jansen (Gwen) of Chaska, MN and Janelle Jansen of Brandon, SD.; and his siblings, Veryl Jansen, Linda Thiesen, Vallerie Abernathy (Ronnie) and Cheryl Van Zee (Dale). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren, and many generations of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 12th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hyke Funeral Home (101 E 7th Ave, Redfield, SD 57469). A prayer was held on Wednesday, March 12th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Thursday, March 13th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Redfield Methodist Church (1326 W 1st St, Redfield, SD 57469).
