He was predeceased by: his parents, Roman Esser and Theresa Esser; and his siblings, Anna Simbeck and Michael Esser. He is survived by: his son-in-law Andy; his wife Peggy Esser; his daughter Christine Johnson (Andy); and his brothers, Fran Esser (Carol), Jim Esser (Jean), Bill Esser and Leo Esser.

Chris would donate all of the produce from his garden to the local food pantry each year. This year alone he donated over 5, 600 pounds of produce.
