He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Ahlers and Pauline Ahlers. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Ann Schwebach; his children, Kim Billings (David), Kevin (Shari), Michael (Susan) and Mark; his grandchildren, Thomas (Brittany), Matthew, Sean, Brian (Alysha), Christopher, Marie, Amanda (Mark), Sierra and Isaac; his great grandchildren, Hudson, Sydney, Eden, Levi, Zion and Ruth; his brother Arnold (Bonnie); and his sisters-in-law, Carolyn and Joan. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
