He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Peters and Ethel Peters (Dobbins); his wife Janet Peters (Skinner); his siblings, Wilma Uhlir, Betty Borders, Clyde Peters, Olin Peters, Dale Peters and Fred Peters Jr.; and his son-in-law Rod Simmons.

He is survived by: his son Jason (Justina Peters); his friends, Nascar and Deadwood; his daughters, Cathy Simmons of Vale, SD and Colleen Escott of Vale, SD; his siblings, Grace Carney, Ethel Oldenkamp (Bluie), Fredy Peters (Fritz) and Allen Peters (Chip); and his pet Speedy.

In lieu of flowers the family has establish a memorial fund for the care of Butch's best friend, Speedy.
