She was predeceased by: her mother Mary Kathleen Hammond (Carples); her husband Arlan R. VanDerPol; and her father John Hammond Sr.. She is survived by: her children, Dawn VanDerPol of Rapid City, SD, Shoun VanDerPol (Amy) of Rapid City, SD, Sherrie Huffmon (William) of Rapid City, SD and Karla O'Connell (Raymond) of Rapid City, SD; her grandchildren, Hannah, Tawna, Thomas, Leah, Joseph, Allison, Taylan, Bekk, Jordan, Kayla, Judian and Christian; and her siblings, Mary Afemui of Rapid City, SD, John Hammond Jr. (Kathy) of Rapid City, SD and Charles Hammond (Theresa). She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, April 14th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home (2700 Jackson Blvd, Rapid City, SD 57702). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 15th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, April 15th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Black Hills National Cemetery (20901 Pleasant Valley Dr, Sturgis, SD 57785).
