He was predeceased by: his daughter-in-law Dawn Van Essen; his great grandchildren, Amari and Talia Daake; his parents, Jacob Essen and Clara Van Essen (Bolt); his siblings, Ella Kooiman (late Jack), Henry (Dot), Raymond (late Lena) and Nelvin (late Jennie); and his brother-in-law Marvin Bruxvoort.
He is survived by: his wife Henrietta (Vanden Bosch); his stepchildren, Carla Jones (Brynley), Douglas Van Essen (Vicki Hellenbrand), Vivian Battjes (Pete), Debra Van Drunen (Steve) and Beverly Holesinger (Clark); and his siblings, Wesley (Jean) and Joyce Bruxvoort. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, their spouses, and 52 great grandchildren.
