He was predeceased by: his parents, William Buck Spotted Tail and Mordella Siers-Spotted Tail (Siers); his son Jacob Spotted Tail; and his brother Gerald Spotted Tail. He is survived by: his children, Precious Fawn Spotted Tail (Buddy Jones), Stevie Kay White Hat (Bud), Darwin Spotted Tail, Jr. and Johnny Flores-Spotted Tail; his grandchildren, Shania High Pipe, Alonzo West, Amisa Jones Jr., Yamni, Tate Ota Semans, Myleigh, Samuel, Taytum, Xena Lafferty, Letty Holy Bull and Chief Spotted Tail; his great grandchildren, Kai Martin and Areilla High Pipe; his siblings, John Spotted Tail (Tamara), Wilma Spotted Tail, Della Spotted Tail (Denis Cournoyer), Marie, Delorse, Bobbi and Genola Clairmont; and his stepsiblings, Rena, Sherri, Sandra Knox and Stan Broken Leg.
