He was predeceased by: his parents, John Tom and Dorothy Tom (Erickson); and his brother Michael. He is survived by: his wife Mary Gaulke; his daughter Heather Pelle (Dusty) of Pierre; and his granddaughters, Rachel of Pierre, Brylee of Pierre and Brooke of Pierre. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was also a plank member of the US Naval Foundation Memorial and a charter member of the USMC Museum.

“Best memory is going to the Vivian car show in 100 degree in the shade. Tom and Steve Robinson (okdockie) and I sat and talked cars, wars and life in general.
