He was predeceased by: his parents, Helen Metzinger (Sherwood) and Arthur Joseph Metzinger; his brother Leroy; his nephews, Rick Metzinger and Christopher Keller; and his niece Kim Cowan Churchill.
He is survived by: his wife Tanya Lynn Pope of Pierre, SD; his siblings, Loretta Cowan (Willie) of Pierre, SD, Janet Keller (Dale) of Grants Pass, OR, Judith "Judy" Pullman (Dennis) of Madison, SD, Geraldine "Deenie" Frederick (Dean) of Agar, SD, Patricia "Patty" Wietgrefe (Gary) of Rapid City, SD, Sharon Metzinger of Pierre, SD, Mary Stewart (Lyle) of Pierre, SD and Michael "Mike" Metzinger (Barbara "Barb") of Artesian, SD; and his nephew Joe.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
