He was predeceased by: his parents, Gustav Hans and Dureene Louise Petersen (Appleby); his son Mark; his brother Kenneth; his in-laws, Fred and Ethel Brown; and his brother-in-law Bob Wilson.
He is survived by: his wife Marijean Brown of Pierre; his children, Lana Laurenz (Rob) of Pierre and Scott Petersen (Cheryl) of Vacaville, California; his grandchildren, Ericka, Catalina, Adam, Taylor, Garrett, Griffin and Matthew; his great grandchildren, Jamison, Lila and Layla; and his sisters, Carole Wilson and Doris Kirkie (Dick). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to Oahe Presbyterian Church or Countryside Hospice.
