He was predeceased by: his parents, Irene Fred Kern and George; and his brother Fred. He is survived by: his wife Karen of Pierre; his children, Linda Anderson (Brad) of Rapid City, SD, Jerry D. Kern (Fei) of Shanghai, Sandra Mollman (Scott) of Vermillion, SD, Debra Workman (Dan) of Sioux Falls, SD and Mikal Kern (Myriah) of Wyndmere, ND.; his brother Jean Kern (Hazel) of Plankinton, SD.; and his grandchildren, Jon Kern Anderson, Jacob Kern Anderson, Justin Anderson, Elliza Mollman, Henry Mollman, Dylan Workman, Satchel Workman, Preston Workman, Jolene "George" Kern and Bennett Kern.
Due to the outbreak of Covid 19, a celebration of life for Jerry will be held at a later date.
