It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Harlan Fransen of Pierre, South Dakota, born in Gettysburg, South Dakota, who passed away on March 12, 2023, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Arend Fransen and Minnie Fransen (Gear); his parents-in-law, John F. and Marie Umiker; and his brothers, Daryl, Frank and Raymond.
He is survived by: his wife Verna; his sister Dorothy Sloat; his children, Jeffrey Fransen, Terry Fransen (Jodi) and Angela Garvey; and his grandchildren, Tyler Garvey, Garrett Fransen, Lauryn Fransen, Megan Garvey and Hannah Tucker. He is also survived by his loving wife and family, numerous friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorials be sent to Faith Lutheran Church, 714 N. Grand Avenue, Pierre, South Dakota 57501 in his memory.
