It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Darlene Renville of Peever, South Dakota, born in Sisseton, South Dakota, who passed away on December 8, 2021, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lavina Max (Max) and John Renville, Sr.; and her siblings, Ida Mae LaBatte, Rollin Ryan, John Renville Jr. and Darrell Renville (Toad).
She is survived by: her sons, Hoksila Pipeboy (Holly Waditaka) of Peever, SD, John "Bird" Renville III (Chassidy Big Horn) of Agency Village, SD, Colin James (Cyndi Mecas-James) of Dakota Tipi, Jeremiah Renville (Sara), Ashley Waditaka of Canada and Lenda Taleb of Paris, France; and her grandchildren, Hoksina Pipeboy-Waditaka, Shanelle Sewap-Waditaka, Scarlett Renville, Cade Renville, Slaine Renville, Willa Renville, Saafire Lafrombies, Skye Renville and Tayahmya Renville. She is also survived by grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Darlene was an AIM Activist, the founder of the Koda Foundation, a founder of the Traditional Government Office of the SWST.
