He was predeceased by: his parents, Gottfried Zirpel and Gertrude Zirpel (Gerlach); his wife Elaine; his brothers, Leonard, Wilburt (Audrey), Erwin (Olinda), Elmer and Harold (Virginia); his in-laws, Clifford Roth, Richard Mehlhaff, Harold Mettenbrink, Ray, Violet Thum, Elmer, Marlene Frey, Ernest, William Wenzel and Marvin Holec; his son-in-law Mark Proctor; and his grandson Caleb.
He is survived by: his children, Charlotte (Gary Adamson) of Centerville, SD, David Zirpel (Pamala) of Sioux City, IA, Mark Zirpel (Lori) of Parkston, SD, Marjo (Roger Soukup) of Lake Andes, SD, Bruce Zirpel (Kara) of Omaha, NE, Troy Zirpel of Maricopa, AZ and Kayla (Rick Orr); his sisters, Rose Roth and Mary Ellen Mettenbrink; and his sisters-in-law, Darlene Holec and Luella Zirpel. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials would be preferred in lieu of flowers.
