Leota Goetz Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Leota Goetz of Onaka, South Dakota, who passed away on February 17, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Anton Geier and Mary Geier (Malsam); her son Neil Goetz; her siblings, Anna Goetz and James Geier; and her brothers-in-law, Raphael Heier and Arnie Schmidt.

She is survived by: her husband Valerian Goetz; her children, Edane Bowman (Kevin), Blaine Goetz (Kathy), Dane Goetz (Beth), Lee Goetz (Peggy) and Kendall Goetz (Stacey); her grandchildren, Tonner Bowman (Samantha), Gaven Bowman, Matthew Goetz, Samantha Tarbox (Ross), Thomas Goetz, Isaiah Goetz, Amanda Goetz, Sarah Goetz (Kraig Heil), Kali Graff (Gordy), Preston Goetz (Jessica), Mariah Uhler (Christopher), Lucas Goetz (Tana Lick), Joseph Goetz (Jordyn Cranny), Adam Goetz (Gabrielle), Shawn Goetz (Emma), Grant Goetz and Drew Goetz; her great grandchildren, Sutton Tarbox, Hattie Tarbox, Greyson Pacillas, Brooks Heil, Quin Graff, Sunny Jo Graff, Archie Leo Goetz, Blaise Uhler, Damian Lee Uhler, Cana Uhler and Wes Goetz; her siblings, Joe Geier (Betty), Helen Heier, Eva Schmidt and Anthony Geier; and her siblings-in-law, Joe Goetz and Elaine Geier.

Visitation was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church - Aberdeen (409 2nd Ave NE, Aberdeen, SD 57401). A wake was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be requested to Catholic Seminarian fund, mass intentions, or SD Right to Life.
