It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Hellenga of New Holland, South Dakota, who passed away on December 6, 2021, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Margaret Hellenga and Kieldsen; his parents-in-law, Henry and Ada Assink; his siblings, Robert, Irving, Wayne, Allen Hellenga, Eleanor and Barbara Hellenga; his siblings-in-law, Gordon Bloemendaal, Frank Fett, Charlotte Fett, Renata Hellenga (Hoffmann), Janice Hellenga and Kathy Doezema; and his granddaughter Eve Hellenga.
He is survived by: his wife Susan Hellenga of New Holland, SD; his children, Aaron Hellenga (MaryAnn) of Urbandale, IA, Nathan Hellenga (Libby) of Urbandale, IA, Anna Gritters (Jeffrey) of Otley, IA and Noah Hellenga (Kayla) of Corsica, SD; his grandchildren, Hannah, Abby, Heidi, Daniel, Matthew, Asher, Ellie, Ada, Mya and Micah; and his siblings, Ron Hellenga (Sherryl) of Traverse City, MI, Brian Hellenga (Glenda) of Rock Rapids, IA and Faye Hofmeyer (Ron) of Orange City, IA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
