He was predeceased by: his mother Sylvia; his daughter Deborah Fueston; and his sister Darlene Zulk. He is survived by: his wife Mary of Montrose; his children, Cathy Steinmetz (Dan) of Alexandria, David (Julie) of Mitchell, Steve (Karen) of Montrose, Jean Schroeder (Jerry) of Hartford and Linda Lounsbery (Josh Milby) of Sioux Falls; and his brother Dean Christensen (Judi) of Montrose. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.
