He was predeceased by: his parents, Bertha Nieuwsma (Droog) and William F. Nieuwsma; his son Kent Nieuwsma; his siblings, Edwin Nieuwsma, Gladys Seymour (Dornbush) and Carol Neukircher (Crawford); and his parents-in-law, Sylvia Nieuwsma, Harlan Dornbush, Robert Huizenga, Robert Crawford, Billy Vander Vorst, Ernie Geffre, Polly Vander Vorst, Wilma Vander Vorst, Ed C and Minnie Vander Vorst.
He is survived by: his wife Gracey (Vander Vorst); his children, Lee Nieuwsma (Cindy) and Cindy Drengson (Dennis); his grandchildren, Cole Nieuwsma (Maggie), Calisa Squires (Jay), Parker and Jackson Drengson; his great grandchild Micah Nieuwsma; his siblings, Willard Nieuwsma, Helen Huizenga, LaVon Rossow (Jim) and Vivian Vander Vorst (Curtis); and his siblings-in-law, Arnold Vander Vorst (Karen), Dale Vander Vorst, Roger Vander Vorst, Monte Vander Vorst (Judy), Blake Vander Vorst (Kathy), Lowell Seymour, Herb Neukircher, Sandy Geffre, Lorraine Nieuwsma and Corrine Vander Vorst. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
