It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Russell LaVern Knutson (Mitchell, South Dakota), who passed away on April 14, 2023, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Ole Knutson and Josephine Olive Knutson (Driggs); his wife Alyce M. Knutson (Hanson); and his siblings, LeRoy, Darwin, Delbert, Marion and Kathleen Lucid Bender.

He is survived by: his children, Debby Wishmier (Jim), Lori Schultz (Jim Ziegler), Scott Knutson (Mindy) and Brock Knutson; his brother-in-law Darrell Hanson; his grandchildren, Sean Simpson, Megan Freeman, Marissa Schultz, Connor, Karlie Knutson, Elliot and Emarie Knutson; his great grandchildren, Tayvian and Lincoln Freeman; and his stepgrandchildren, Jerusha, Nick and Seth. He is also survived by step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

One of his dreams was to go to the Elks National Foundation in Chicago and this dream was filled with going on this trip with son Scott and grandson Connor. Vern was very proud of the contributions he made each year to the Elks National Foundation for college scholarships for young people.
