He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Stekl and Anna Stekl (Meier); his brothers, Duane Stekl and Monte Stekl; and his brother-in-law Homer Parce.

He is survived by: his sister Norma Parce of Woonsocket; his sisters-in-law, Joan Schieffer (Jim) of Mitchell and Eldeen Stekl of Mitchell; and his nieces and nephews, Larry Parce of Letcher, Gene Parce (Nerissa) of Letcher, Ann Stange of Woonsocket, Curtis Parce (Liz) of Letcher, Teri Edwards (Jim) of Letcher, Lynette Reime (Hans) of Hoquiam, Coly Blake (Bob) of Wessington, Wes Stekl (Sherri) of Letcher, Allen Stekl (Joan) of Cedar Rapids, Lori Smith (Scott) of Dakota Dunes, Sandy Long (Ronnie) of Mitchell, Kristi Moody (Marty) of Mt. Vernon and Jim Stekl (Tammy) of Harrisburg.
