He was predeceased by: his parents, Harm Batterman and Karolina Batterman (Drefs); his siblings, Hattie Schrank (John), Helen Frey (Alfred), Albert Batterman (Emma), Erna Guthmiller (Carl), Martha Struck (Henry), William Batterman (Ruby), Freida Struck (Roy), Minnie Vilhauer (Nathan) and Helmuth Batterman; his sister-in-law Delphine Juhnke (Kenneth); and his daughter-in-law Jackie Batterman.
He is survived by: his children, Terry Batterman (Linette), Scott Batterman and Brenda Mayer (Gary); his grandchildren, Dustin Batterman (Tori), Nicholas Batterman (Julie), Aaron Mayer (Jenn), Ashley (Sean), Mindi Smith (Rocky) and Heather Alcanter (Michael); his great grandchildren, Clayton, Maverick, Morgan, Berkley, McKenzie, Ely, Jack, Mollie, Alivia, Olivia, Charley, Adrian, Madilyn and Maya; and his sister-in-law Metha Batterman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to the American Legion in Parkston.
