It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Helen C. Matya of Mitchell, South Dakota, born in Shelby, Nebraska, who passed away on December 13, 2021, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Gable and Marie Gable (Korger); her husband Ted Matya; and her siblings, Agnes, Norma Jean, Edward and Donald.
She is survived by: her daughters, Linda Hansen (Lynn) of Sioux Falls, SD, Kathleen Austerman (Bill) of Artesian, SD, Colleen Duncan (Ken) of Oro Valley, AZ and Deborah Matya of Portland, OR; her grandchildren, Cory Hansen (Margaret), Cindy Hansen, Ted Austerman (Amanda), Phillip Austerman (Rachael) and Vincent Austerman (Stephanie); her great grandchildren, Luke, Callie, Brady, Owen, Tess and Emmett Austerman; her sisters, Evelyn Morgan of Kimball, NE, Irene Smith of Columbus, NE and Betty Watts of Papillion, NE; and her sister-in-law Luella Gable of Shelby, NE. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
