He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Shoemaker (Bud) and Dottie Iverson (Shoemaker) of Mitchell, SD; and his stepfather Merv Iverson. He is survived by: his siblings, Ann Trent of La Crosse, WI, Tom Shoemaker of Mitchell, SD, Sid Shoemaker (Linda) of Sioux City, IA, Gail Urso of Brookfield, CT, Mary Kobernusz (Bob) of Sioux Falls, SD and Laura Hair (Reggie) of Canonsburg, PA; and his close friends, Pam Catalano, Jerry Metcalf and Laray Rayment. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
