He is survived by: his wife DeEtta Bates; his children, Casey of Mitchell, Kurt Young (Angie) of Mitchell, Kim Huston (John) of Muncie, IN, Kathy Ward (Deryk) of Gallatin, TN and Karen Geersen (Calvin) of Martin, SD; and his siblings, John of Omaha, NE, Kenneth (Jan) of Yankton, James (Karen) of Sioux Falls, Keith of Mitchell, Robert (Susan) of Humble, TX, Joseph of Charlotte, NC, Beverly Boyle of Phoenix, AZ, Lois Paulson (Chuck) of Mitchell, Linda Hanson (James) of Castle Rock, CO, Margaret Loomis (Gerald) of Sioux Falls, Carol Oleson (Doug) and Judy Javersak (Mark). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
