He was predeceased by: his parents, Uel Compton and Marion Compton; his wife Betty Jo; and his siblings, Sue Verley and Norman Compton.
He is survived by: his children, Greg Compton (Margo) of Steele City, NE, Dale Compton (Susan) of St. Cloud, FL and Carrie Hall (Compton) of New Jersey; his siblings, Ula J. Dickerman (Russell) of Casper, WY, Robert W. Compton, E. Rex Compton of Ten Sleep, WY and David B. Compton (Janice) of Casper, WY; and his stepchildren, Debbie Kodada (Steve) of New Ulm, MN, Gloria Groenendyk (Darrell) of Oskaloosa, IA, Becky Beaner (Brian) of Worthington, MN, P. J. Woldt (Joe) of Crooks, SD, Ray Wilkett (Lisa) of Worthington, MN and Don Morris (Melissa) of St Lawrence, SD. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members.
