He was predeceased by: his parents, Lauritz Johnsen and Phyllis Johnsen (Howell); his daughter Dawn Johnsen; his stepgranddaughter Alora Rea Breault; his wife Karen Johnsen (Tesch); and his brother Dale Johnsen.
He is survived by: his former wife Mary Ann Johnson; his wife Rosann Olga Lichtsinn (Simpson) of Milbank, SD; his children, Van Johnsen (Georgia) of Amery, WI and Carie Johnsen of Augusta, ME; his stepchildren, Thomas "TJ" Johnson of Aberdeen, SD, Ben Johnson (Heather) of Pine Island, MN, Sara Goche of Watertown, SD, Kelly VanHorn (Corey) of Morris, MN, Joy Bjordahl (Paul) of Sioux Falls, SD, Grant Lichtsinn of Duluth, MN and Dillon Lichtsinn of Brandon, SD; and his siblings, Judy Frerichs (Gene) of Milbank, SD, Duane Johnsen (Sherry) of Vancouver, WA and Jerry Johnsen (Wanda) of Reno, NV.. He is also survived by five grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
Gene's family suggests memorials be given to Milbank Fire and Rescue Department, P.O. Box 625, Milbank, SD 57252.
