He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Nemec and Bessie Nemec (Sheeley); his parents-in-law, Oscar and Helen Merkle; his sisters, Teresa McLaughlin and Sally Ehlers; and his brothers-in-law, Raymond McLaughlin, Robert Tolton, Johnny Fosheim, Don Ehlers and Bob Evans.

He is survived by: his wife Laurel Isabel Merkle; his children, Randy Nemec (Holly) of Midland, SD, Terry Nemec (Laura) of Dell Rapids, SD, Rick Nemec (Sue) of Hazel Green, WI, Rebecca Thompson (Robert) of Lakeville, MN and Barbara Larson (Todd) of Sioux Falls, SD.; his grandchild Katey Ortlieb (Brian) of Sturgis, SD; his children, Tyler Nemec (Angel) of Midland, SD, Chelsee Rankin (Tyler) of Murdo, SD, Jennifer Nemec of Sioux Falls, SD, Jackie Kuehl (Phillip) of Albuquerque, NM, Ben Nemec of Madison, WI, Riley Nemec of Des Moines, IA, Heidi Bubb (Nate) of Verona, WI, Ryan Burbach (Hanne) of San Marcos, CA, Josiah Thompson of Lakeville, MN, Kendall Larson of Brookings, SD and Logan Larson of Sioux Falls, SD; his siblings, Judy Fosheim, John Nemec (Linda) and Tom Nemec (Theresa); and his siblings-in-law, Verona Evans, Kathy Tolton, Lawrence and Ronnie Merkle.
