He was predeceased by: his parents, Anton Ternes and Marcellina Ternes (Grosz); his sons, Anthony and Steve; his son-in-law Duane Gehring; and his siblings, Emil, Joseph, Regina, Philomena, Appy, Teresa, Margie, Renata and Bernadette.
He is survived by: his wife Marie Volk; his children, Phillip Ternes (Sherry) of McIntosh, SD, George Ternes (Lorrie), Judy Edinger (Robert) of McIntosh, SD and Kathleen Gehring; and his sisters, Anne Riehl of Watauga, SD, Mary Nagel, Alvina Lenerville (Albert) and Darlene Soucy (Jim). He is also survived by eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
