She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Stroup and Margaret Stroup (Van Hook); her husband Gary Alexander; her siblings, Richard "Mickey" Stroup (Gloria) and Margie Hill; and her brother-in-law Dale Alexander.

She is survived by: her sons, Todd Alexander (Cara), Chad Alexander and Dana Alexander (Dena); her grandchildren, Tayt Alexander (Kelly), Abbie Saxton (Jamie), Sage Alexander (Tya), Lily Alexander, Madison Alexander, Deidra Alexander and Derek Alexander; her great grandchildren, Emma Alexander and Jaci Alexander; and her brother-in-law Dana Hill.

Due to COVID-19 concerns the service is limited to immediate family.

A memorial has been established for Karen at the Bennett County Historical Society associated with the Martin Community Heritage Center, where she kept the flowers in all their beauty.
