He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis DeVaney and Elida DeVaney (Hyland); and his grandson Mason Robertson. He is survived by: his wife Jane of Madison; his children, Kim Robertson (Jeremy) of Harrisburg, Jeremiah Schneider (Megan) of Madison, Brett Schneider (Heidi) of Madison and Mitchell Schneider (Erin) of Madison; and his siblings, Janet Leighton (Alan) of Rapid City, Mike DeVaney (Sandy) of Madison, Kitty Gustaf (Mark) of Black Hawk, SD, Scott DeVaney (Carla) of Madison and Tony DeVaney (Jennifer) of Madison. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
