He was predeceased by: his parents, Everist Neises and Matilda Neises (Schmitz); his daughter Dori Jones (Steve); his sister Virginia Baseggio; and his brother-in-law Vince Baseggio.

He is survived by: his wife Donna Mae; his children, Denise Melius (Dwight), Danette Sell (Doug), Darla Steward (Daryl), Dann Neises (Michele), Deann Hildebrandt (Jim) and Doug Neises; and his great grandchild Luke Melius. He is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren and forty-nine great grandchildren.

He also donated a doll house to Sanford Children's Hospital.
