He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry G. Klinghagen and Ella Klinghagen (Kuper); his daughter-in-law Mollie Klinghagen; and his brothers, Dennis Klinghagen (Val) and Keith Klinghagen.

He is survived by: his wife Joyce Nelson; his children, Gary Klinghagen, Karen Otterberg (Todd), Janet Hansen (Kim) and Brian Klinghagen (Patty); and his grandchildren, Jason Otterberg, Kory Otterberg, Cole Hansen, Chase Hansen, Dylan Klinghagen, Kade Klinghagen, Mikayla Bond and Delane Hood. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
