He was predeceased by: his parents, John Rieger and Pauline Rieger (Sonnefeldt); his wife Evelyn Peterson; his granddaughter Nicki Salzsieder; and his siblings, Henry, Viola Zimmerman, Wilma Schopp, Herbert, Elnora Kolb, Virginia Doerr and Lorraine Schafer.

He is survived by: his children, Vickie Peterson (Wade) of Lemmon, Georgine Quade (Ted) of Waukesha, WI, June Quade (Kent) of Randolph, WI, Donald (Tammy) of Milbank, SD and Debbie Salzsieder (Kim) of Custer, SD.; his grandson Nathan Quade (Kelly) of Eau Claire; his children, Dawson, Savannah and Tanner; his granddaughter Rachel Kearns (Jake) of Markesan, WI; his children, Sawyer, Colt, Samantha Dolgner of Waupun, WI, Ruby, Parker, Joseph Quade, Laura Manson of Madison, WI, Cora and RJ Rieger (Preston Benson); his grandchild Ayden of Durango, CO; his children, Jocelyn Rieger, Amanda Zephier of Sioux Falls, SD and Craig Salzsieder (Jena); his grandchildren, Arlo and Bodhi; and his brothers, Ray Rieger of Roseville, MN and Oscar Rieger (Lorraine) of Rapid City, SD. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lemmon Ambulance Service and St. Luke's Lutheran Church.
